Reflections of the Night

Purple Poetry // Reflections of the Night

Much like Dancing with Eternity, this free verse poem explores the love of two partners with a deep connection to the natural wonder that brought them together in a deep and beautiful forest. Originally exclusive to dA; now on Vocal and Medium.

Under the stars I wandered

Until I found peace among the longleaf pines

I stood somewhere deep within the forest

Cold wind blowing in my hair

I wore the gown that I wore when we first met

When I first found the peace of the forest

I lied on my back and looked at the moon

Gazing into a face much like yours

I wondered if you’d awoken yet

And were wondering where I was

As the first raindrop fell

The storm rolled in and I heard you run out and call my name

I was there in the forest

You followed my voice — my song

As I danced in the rain

You found me and you stared in wonder for a moment

Then you danced with me as the lightning flashed

And the thunder roared
