Reincarnated Curse

Purple Poetry // Reincarnated Curse

With this mystical free verse poem, which was published on DeviantArt, I wanted to touch on the concept of immortality through reincarnation. True to my roots in speculative fiction–particularly horror–I asked myself what would happen if the soul to be reincarnated was inherently evil? How would that affect the new iteration and color their morality?

Deeper in the shadows

Lurking

A past haunts the ghost of the witch

The spirit left behind

In a legacy of magic

Of murder

She dies alone

Strangled by the darkness

Growing stronger in the space

Between your world and ours

Trying to repent

To relive her past

Rectify the mistakes

But can’t

Can only hope

That hope is real

That they can forgive

The unforgivable

That you can forgive

Her

Forgive

Me

.

Forgive me father for I have sinned
